Diesel Fuel System Clean-Up Solution and Fuel Injector Flush Tool – A Solution to Machine Symptoms Beginning in 2008, a series of machine symptoms began to emerge with a common pattern. Reports identified rough running, misfire, starting problems, diesel engine smoke, and/or select Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Investigation into these issues has led us to realize several things: - Injector OEMs reporting several Engine OEMs having the same issues - Injector OEMs reported no defects with their components - The phenomenon occurs in multiple regions o Theissueoccursacrossmultipleenginemanufacturers o The issue is exhibited across several fuel configurations o Not all engine technologies burning the same fuel experience the same issue - This issue is more prevalent in Tier 3, high pressure fuel systems - Replacing the injectors solves the issue for 100 – 500 hours - Injector inspections showed presence of a specific type of deposit believed to be causing sticking and poor fuel delivery - Standard fuel conditioners may not prevent this specific type of deposit formation - Severity of the issue does vary by fuel batch and by region - There have been very few issues observed when using CARB fuel The recognition of this issue on a global basis has led to the Engine Manufacturers Association to join forces with the Coordinating Resource Council Diesel Deposit Committee and request that they focus on this issue.
