The VP215C runs fast and quietly, making it a good seller in the low cost category of chamber vacuum packers. The VacMaster VP215C is proving to be a good unit for those with low production needs on a tight budget wanting an easier cleaner way of vacuum sealing. How does the chamber machine work? When sealing with a chamber machine, the vacuum pouch is placed inside the chamber and the lid is closed. Air is sucked out of the entire chamber, including the pouch. By allowing air pressure on both the inside and outside of the pouch to remain equal the liquids stay inside the pouch. After the air has been removed, the pouch is fully sealed and air is returned back into the chamber. It is a technology that has been used in the commercial food industry since the 1940's. Small units by VacMaster have been available for over 30 years but now with the new Chinese manufacturing facility the price has been cut in less than half, making them more affordable to the general public. If you’ve never experienced chamber technology before, you’ll be amazed at the difference. All Chamber Sealer brands use commercial vacuum pouches, called "Flat" pouches. Like the textured pouches for the suction style units the "Flat" pouches are a high air barrier pouch. The high air barrier prevents air from re-entering the vacuum pouch over time. Food bags such as Zip Lock are a low air barrier bag. Low air barrier bags allow air to flow through the bag material. Even if vacuum sealed tight over time, the low air barrier bags will allow air back into the bag via the plastic material. Flat pouches for chamber units keep the air out, better protection for your delicate food items and collectables. All high air barrier pouches give the benefits of longer shelf life with less freezer burn when used in congunction with a vacuum sealer. The Flat pouches are more economical than textured vacuum pouches used with suction style units. The cost of a chamber unit is significantly more expensive than a great quality suction style unit, but savings with a chamber unit is noticed by users who do high production runs, using 1000 to 2000 bags a year or more.
