This manual covers Atlas lathes with standard gear change, lathes that do not have a pull knob to engage the power cross feed, copper-hardened babbitt and Timken bearings, and vertical motor drive systems. It covers everything shown in the index section listed below and more. This manual is printed in it's original size 5.5" x 8.5".   I carry 6 different Manual of Lathe Operation and Machinists Tables books that cover the Atlas Craftsman-Sears Lathes made past 1937 in my eBay store. See "Which manual works with my lathe" section below for explanations.   The Format This manual formatted with in introduction and then is broken down into 12 sections which vary in pages. The 12 sections are as follows: No.1 Lathe Care and Construction No.2 Theory of Metal Cutting No.3 Cutting Tools No.4 The Machining of Various Metals No.5 Holding the Work No.6 Drilling and Boring No.7 Thread Cutting No.8 Lathe Attachments and Their Uses No.9 Woodturning on the Metal Lathe No.10 Machinist Tables No.11 Index No.12 Pages For Your Shop Notes      For your convenience, I have reprinted up six different original versions of this Manual of Lathe Operation book to cover the large span of lathes that Atlas produced from circa 1937 to the late 1900's. Some of the manuals overlap on certain machines and parts, because Atlas didn't change every machine and part at precise times, but I can help you match the appropriate manual with your machine. SEE "Which manual works with your lathe:" below.   I am aware that there are original versions of this manual sold on eBay, but I am not trying to compete with those manuals. By many request, this collection of manuals was reproduced for my Atlas Craftsman-Sears customers. I am trying to provide a complete collection of manuals after years of research and processing, scanning, and cleaning over 1,500 pages from these 6 different manuals. I hope my effort helps you with locating the appropriate manual for operating your size and vintage of lathe.     Index:   Click here to download a PDF of a general Index Please note this index may not be the exact index for this specific manual, but all 6 are extremely similar if not exactly the same.   Example Pictures from various Lathe Operation Manuals:     Which manual works with your lathe: I have six different manuals in my eBay store that cover different vintages/models and sizes of Atlas Craftsman-Sears lathes. Some of the manuals overlap on certain machines and parts, because Atlas didn't change every machine and part at precise times, but I can help you match the appropriate manual that Atlas made for your lathe. Below is an explanation of the six different manuals. If you have any questions about a manual, please let me know ray@ozarkwoodworker.com.   Please note: The pictures are to given to show a general idea of the model of machine covered in the manual.
