Autoclave, Industrial, Lab Size R&D 330 psi and vacuum, 450 DEG F This is a used lab sized industrial autoclave that is vacuum and pressure rated up to 330 PSI at a temperature of 650 deg F.  The system consists of a horizontal pressure vessel mounted on a stand and a vertical control cabinet which installs adjacent to the vessel.  Chamber has front and rear swinging doors that are held shut with large T-bolts.  The rear door gives access to the circulation blower motor while the front door gives access to the work area.  The vessel is electrically heated with 12kW of heaters and controlled with an scr amp and digital controller interface. There is a circulation blower inside the chamber which requires a steady flow of cooling fluid and this is monitored with a cooling fluid flow switch. There is also a second set of coiling coils for regulating the overall temperature of the chamber. The chamber is pressurized and vented with a two pneumatically operated valves. The control cabinet houses a plc, graphic interface, GI controller, heater SCR, flow switch controller, blower motor starter, push buttons and other fuses and relays. The graphic interface is a programmable controller that shows the actual values and setpoints for both temperature and pressure. Segmented programs can be entered to ramp up and down the setpoints. The control panel has pull-buttons that manually operate some of the functions of the chamber along with warning indicator lights. The system was partially tested by applying power and air pressure. We operated the machine in "manual" mode which gives you the ability to use the front control buttons to pressurize and vent the chamber, operate the blower, vacuum pump relay, cooling coil and set the chamber temp from the graphic interface controller. We could not determine how the "auto" mode was intended to work. The graphic interface is very easy to use and we were able to change the setpoint for the temperature from here. The heater system is very powerful and chamber temperature quickly increases and overshoots the setpoint somewhat but after some time the temperature stabilizes and the controller holds the setpoint very accurately. Circulation blower turned on and sounded good. We manually pressurized the chamber by pulling the "pressurize" button to about 25 PSI and it held the pressure for a few hours until we vented the chamber. Pressure is monitored on the graphic interface as process variable #2. We are not sure if the graphic interface controller is suppose to control chamber pressure or only monitor it. The system is in very good overall condition and all of the functions we were able to test worked very well. It was built in 1993 and has been well maintained and cared for and aside from a few scratches it is cosmetically very presentable. As a buyer you should be aware that you are buying an expensive piece of equipment at a greatly reduced price and as such you may have to deal with certain unknowns and defective components which were not known and could not be known without full scale setup and operation of the machine.  Our experience in dealing with many specialized pieces of equipment has proven this to be a rare occurrence however it is a risk inherent in buying used equipment.  The very few times we have had to deal with these issues we have been very helpful in resolving the problem.
