Your compressor should already have a standard drain petcock, valve or at least a screw-in plug of 1/4" NPT size to install this kit. If such a threaded plug doesn't exist, you may not want to attempt installation of this kit, since you'll have to do some drilling and other work to install a threaded fitting in the bottom of your compressor tank. *** Most compressors sold today already have a drain in the bottom of the tank, but you are responsible for the applicability of this kit. *This kit automatically keeps your compressor tank free of condensation build-up, and therefore prevents the slime and other gunk that "grows" inside your tank. The system operates off any interrupted air signal, such as the shutdown the compressor performs when the air pressure in the tank reaches the set value. The clog-free valve is designed to discharge automatically each time the compressor shuts off or starts up by opening the drain valve for a few seconds (typically 1-2 seconds is all it needs). Since this happens each time the compressor loads or unloads air, or is turned on or off, your tank is kept clean and free of the byproducts that weakens your tank and eventually will cause tank failure. This kit comes complete with hose to run from your pressure switch, pilot valve or receiver/discharge pressure unloader to the auto drain valve, installed on the bottom of the tank. A standard drain petcock (if currently present) may be left in place or replaced with the new one included in the kit. All fittings are brass for strength and corrosion resistance. Installation of the kit takes 15 minutes or so; installation instructions are included, and diagrams and parts lists are present in the instruction booklet. ***Drain all the existing gunk out of the tank BEFORE installing this kit so you don't simply clog the kit's valve, and then install the kit.
