It takes a wood turner to know what a wood turner needs and wants. I am a wood turner. Having the sharpest tools possible is a real necessity to be a good turner. Enter CBN or Cubic Boron Nitride grinding wheels. They are electroplated and nickel coated. Why? Electroplated offers many advantages over other applications. It creates a more aggressive bond over other applications and will hold a form longer. It also performs a higher stock removal rate and will last for years. These are designed for sharpening high speed steels only and should not be used for other applications. The wheels have a 1.5 inch face so the are easy to use and work excellent with the wolverine sharpening system. These are 80 and 220 grit wheels and puts a great finish on your edges and makes them "scary sharp" as well as being able to raise a burr for your scrapers. A unique feature of these wheels are the 1/4 inch radius on the left and right side of the wheels. The radius makes it easy to grind small 1/4 inch hollowing bits and round scrapers. This eliminates problems of having to rotate a tool by the handle (in the case of scrapers) and end up over grinding the tip. This is a very handy feature and you can hold the small bits and not burn your fingers. (I do it all the time on mine) You will also notice in the pictures that you can remove the guards because there is zero chance these wheels can come apart. They are machined from one solid piece of steel. They stay round, balanced and need no dressing. This means they are always the same diameter so no resetting your tool holding devices to make up for a smaller wheel. No stone dust to breath either. You can pick up the filings with a magnet. We suggest you use them on a slower speed setting. You will also notice that there is no bluing of the steel when you sharpen and in most cases you can touch the end of the tool because there is very little heat transfer which is better for your steel. These wheels are built to my specifications and are 8 inches in Diameter with 3/4 Arbor hole to fit Baldor Grinders. We carry these in 6 inch as well with a 1/2 Arbor and 7 inch by order.
