Barringer Instruments Ionscan 400B Up for auction is a used Barringer Instruments Ionscan 400B that is in good physical condition. There are a couple scuff marks on the casing, but it is otherwise undamaged. For more information on the cosmetic condition please refer to the pictures below. Item Specifications: Model: 400B Serial: 13933 Firmware Version: 3.224 When testing, the item powered on with no problems. The display comes on and is crystal clear and undamaged. The machine makes a fairly loud hum while on which may or may not be normal. The first time we turned it on the system seemed to be stuck on the loading screen which would go black every 10 seconds and then comes back on with the initial system screen. After around 10 minutes the system finally came online and everything started working. All of the buttons worked and allowed for easy transitions between all of the system menus. Pictures of some of the menus can be seen below. We were able to change screen brightness, alarm sounds, start tests, and set passwords. Everything seems to work well and it ran smoothly for the entire testing period. Unfortunately we are unable to test the actual purpose of the machine which is to detect explosives and certain contraband. We lack the knowledge of how this machine works as well as some equipment required for testing effectively. We can find nothing obviously wrong with the machine, but without complete testing the item will be sold as is. Because of this, there is no guarantee on full functionality of anything not tested. Included with the item is a small collection of technical papers from the manufacturer and an appropriate power cable. This item is guaranteed to arrive as described and pictured in the listing.
