Beckman GelMate 1000 Sonic Digitizing System & Acc. This system consists of a light box with a backlit area 14" by 16.75". Two switches on the front turn on two separate sets of lights inside allowing the brightness to be adjusted. Mounted on the back of the unit is the digitizing system, with a power indicator light on the front (controlled by a separate switch on the main light box), a 25-pin female D connector on the back labelled "serial" and a round recessed male 8-pin connector labelled "pen/cursor". The unit takes 110V power from a standard power cord. Included with the unit are a number of accessories. There are two data cables that connect to the 25-pin serial connector at one end and have female 25-pin D connector and a 9-pin connectors at the other end, a female-to-male 25-pin RS-232 gender changer, two pens that connect to the 8-pin connector at the back, and a third pen that is missing part of its connector and may be useful as a source of spare parts. Also included is a sheet with some warranty and servicing information. When plugged in and turned on the light box lights up, as does the power indicator on the digitizing system. No other peripherals were available for further testing. The digitizing system was dismounted from the light box for shipping but will be easily reattached with an ordinary screwdriver.
