  Warre Bee Hives are meant for hands-off, minimalist and sustainable beekeeping practices and are suited to provide a comfortable home for honeybees. Used extensively by backyard beekeepers in the United States and Europe, they are designed to be simple, economical, bee-friendly and to assure a surplus of honey for the beekeeper. The Warre hive design mimics a hollow tree, which is ideal for a natural honeybee home. The benefits are better self management of their nest and effective communication between bees. The result is a happy, calm and balanced bee colony.   All of the bee boxes are predrilled and easily assembled with locking double rabbit joints. Each box has a closeable 2 inch “porthole” window for an easy look at the bee situation within that box. Every bee box has top-bar position guides for easy, quick and accurate placement of the top-bars. The hive walls are fully one-inch thick for greater thermal protection of the bees and for increased hive strength & life. The standard kit includes parts for 3 bee-boxes & 1 quilt box, a ventilated "garden type" roof, top-bars & beeswax, handles, hive floor & landing board, burlap, all of the required fasteners and complete illustrated instructions. I have built Warre beehive kits for beekeepers in Oregon's Willamette Valley since 2008. My hives were selected to be placed in the Spikenard Bio-dynamic Honey Bee Sanctuary in Virginia. Also, Taggart Siegel, the director of the honey bee documentary "Queen of the Sun", after seeing many beehives around the world, chose my Warre beehives to place in his own back yard at his home.
