This is NOT an eBay long shot. It is part of a working fleet; last calibrated 1/8/2015 and tested to manufacturers specifications on 10/20/2014. There are various special aspects to these meters... First, they work like they are supposed to, and give you an accurate reading every time. Instead of counting R/hour (roentgen), it counts MicroREM. Roentgen is he actual dose which is hitting the detector without consideration of what effect it may be having on people. REM means Roentgen Equivalent-Man. The alloy casing, composition of the crystal, and advanced circuitry derives for the user an actual biologically valid dose rate in uR/hour. It is called a deep tissue equivalence counter. It is the ultimate tool for health physicists who want to avoid the whiteboard. They're too expensive to keep around most places, so manual calculations taking hours are done in lieu of what this device displays. Please do some research on this thing. This is not a Frankenstein model, it is well maintained, and there's no reason why it wouldn't keep lasting and lasting. The calibration is difficult and takes four hours because many sources are involved. I see these in the shop frequently, and people are actually willing to pay $1,000 just for a yearly calibration because this meter does so much for their practice. Message me if you have questions.
