Big Lot Copper Letterpress Print Blocks Various 1930s 1950s copper other Here is a big lot of 25 Letterpress print blocks. Advertising , a page from a book, doy you remember, Me and the lemon, apeand man, football, carrot on stick, farleigh dickinson university. All kinds of stuff. Even a few that aren’t pictured. The medium flat rate box will be full of print blocks.  Print blocks, or cuts were used by letterpress printers during the 19th and 20th centuries to produce printed images. The raised metal surface was mounted type high, or .918 inches, on a hardwood or metal block.  The surface is pressed against paper in a printing press to produce a right reading impression. These blocks range from less than an inch square to about six inches by eight inches.  From the looks of these, I would date these to the 1930s to 1970s.  _gsrx_vers_586 (GS 6.8 (586))
