Bolt v.Lite system Microcontroller trainer, evaluation, development board. 48 MHz high performance 18F2550, with embedded USB port.     Specially prepared for beginners: Bolt v.Lite easy guide.pdf Watch video: How to blink a led with Bolt v.Lite system programming in ANSI C New feature: FlowCode v.6 software for application development with Bolt v.Lite   Overview   Bolt v.Lite is a low cost, minimum component version of the full Bolt 18F2550 system, and was  designed as a trainer, educational, evaluation or development board for learning and implementing projects based on microcontroller systems.   The board is useful for hobbyist, students and teachers in technical careers or degrees in Electronics, Control, Computers, Mechatronics and Embedded Systems. This system may also be used by engineers in design and development of electronic microcircuits to solve field applications.   Bolt v.Lite module is based on the powerful high performance 18F2550 Microchip's multifunction USB microcontroller, and may be programmed in ANSI C language, using Microchip's MPLAB IDE and C18 ANSI C compiler. During development of new applications, Bolt v.Lite system may be powered and programmed via its USB v.2.0 port, without the need for an external power supply.   Complete system documentation in english: Bolt 18F2550 system download page Bolt 18F2550 system projects Bolt 18F2550 system tutorials Bolt 18F2550 system test programs Bolt 18F2550 system ANSI C functions and Libraries Bolt-18F2550-System-Programming-Software   For more information: http://puntoflotante.net/BOLT-V-LITE-SYSTEM.htm   Powerful learning tool: by means of the on board 8 leds and 4 microswitches, user can easily make test programs for input and ouput bit control and will learn step by step how to flash a led and how to read a digital input, using C programming. Later on, new interfaces may be soldered on board as he/she is learning new programming skills. All components you need are cheap and may be easily found in electronic stores. Complete electronic diagram of the Bolt v.Lite system and its interfaces are provided.   Development Software tools: through the MPLAB IDE software (XP, Vista and Windows 7 and 8 compatible), and C18 (ANSI C) compiler developed by Microchip, you can edit, compile or simulate programs. The executable .hex file generated by the C18 compiler is compatible with the Bolt v.1.0.1 programming software. During the development phase, board is powered through the USB cable. Programming software: special plug and play programming software Bolt v.1.0.1 (XP, Vista and Windows 7 and 8 compatible). You may store your programs in 18F2550 FLASH memory directly through the USB port of your PC or Laptop. With this software you'll be able to program the whole 32 Kb of FLASH memory in less than 5 seconds.   USB embedded port: Bolt v.Lite has an embedded USB port. This port may be handled like a serial port from both sides: the microcontroller and the PC. This is done thanks to the Microchip's USB stack and libraries provided for the microcontroller, and the Windows drivers provided for the PC. We have a complete and well documented project that describes in detail how to send and receive USB data  using simple ANSI C serial port likewise functions.   Projects, test programs and template: we provide dozens of ANSI C (C18) test programs, and 15 fully documented projects for this board. C18 templates for Bolt v.Lite system, as well ANSI C functions for all interfaces are also provided. As the user adds new circuits to the board, more projects may be implemented. Application PC software available: several of the mentioned projects use an special Windows PC software developed in Visual Basic, Visual C++ or C Sharp, to control different options in Bolt v.Lite system, including the handling of the USB, port emulating a serial COM port. All programs have their source code available for users to develop their own applications. External wall transformer option: once a project has been developed, for field applications, module may function without the USB cable, using only an external wall transformer. A standard power jack and an on card 5 volt regulator (7805) may be soldered for this purpose (please see photos). Expansion of board to a multifunction system: new circuits and interfaces may be added on board as needed: to control an LCD display and an hexadecimal keypad, a serial communications port with RS232 interface, a 127 VAC relay (model is RAS-0910 from Sun-Hold) and a DS18B20 temperature sensor .   Hardware Microcontroller: 18F2550-I/SP Microchip, multifunction, high-performance, 28-pin DIP, operating with 20 MHz external crystal. Effective speed of 48 MHz, thanks to on-chip PLL multipliers. Harvard architecture, with RISC set of 75 instructions. Word length of 16 bits in code memory.   Memory: 32K bytes (16K words of 16 bits) FLASH, 2K bytes of RAM, 256 bytes of EEPROM. USB Port: v.2.0 compatible, 12 Mb/s. 18F2550 programming from PC or Laptop via this port. Power supply: selectable with jumper. Either 5 volts, directly from USB port, or from an external wall transformer. Firmware bootloader: preloaded, allows self-programming of FLASH memory through Bolt v.1.0.1 software. On board testing devices: 8 leds connected as witnesses and 4 microswitches for emulation of digital inputs. Input/Output Ports: A total of 17 bits programmable either as inputs or outputs. 25 ma. sink or source outputs. Analog inputs: Up to 7 analog inputs with 10 bits resolution. Dimensions: 8 x 9.5 cms. Printed circuit board, fiberglass, thru hole. Software tools MPLAB IDE v.8.63 for any Windows platform, Microchip's integrated development tool, which includes built-in editor, macroassembler, simulator and ANSI C language compiler. C18 Compiler v.3.40 compiler which can be integrated into the MPAB IDE environment. Software Bolt v.1.0.2, special bootloader, plug and play software for this board, compatible with Windows 8, Windows 7 (64 and 32 bit) and Vista or XP, for FLASH memory programming of 18F2550 in Bolt module, using its USB port. Projects and test programs in ANSI C, for each of the Bolt module interfaces and functions. Also included are several assembler test programs for controlling the leds, microswitches and relay. Set of complete C libraries, and functions available for every interface: LCD, keypad, DS18B20 temperature sensor, USB port, serial port, EEPROM, A/D converters. This makes development of new applications fast and simple.    ***CONTENTS OF PACKAGE: 1 Bolt v.Lite board (assembled and tested)*** CONDITIONS OF ITEM: item is new, assembled and fully tested.   PAYMENT: payment is through PayPal.   SHIPPING: Cost of shipping is free.
