Vintage Bookbinding Backing Hammer 24cm/9.5" Length We have a very limited quantity of these lovely classic vintage Bookbinding Backing Hammers (sometimes known as a cobbler's hammer) for sale. Made in the UK by the now defunct George Barnsley of Sheffield, these are sought after and hardly ever available, especially in this condition. As you can tell from the photographs these are the perfect weight and size for bookbinding and general leatherwork; they fit nicely in the hand. The head is painted black and features the telltale twin-domed shape of a leather-worker's hammer. These hammers are brand-new, unused stock. Some of the paint may be slightly chipped in places, probably from being stored together over the years without protective packaging.
