A nice example of Bostrom's Level. Lacking a model number, and given the early patent date, this may be model #1. The device is used for sighting a level line. Made of brass and iron. The device mounts to a tripod. It has three brass leveling screws. The upper housing bearing an orientation scribe line rotates on the lower housing bearing a 360 degree scale. The sight tube has a small cover plate at the observation end, and presents cross hairs when viewed through. Markings cast into the interior are BOSTROM'S LEVEL PAT'D 1902.05.06 Specifics: brand: Bostrom country of origin: USA Only the instrument is included. Absent are the box, plumb bob, or any other companion hardware. Condition: Used. Nice condition. All pieces are intact and undamaged, including the glass lenses, the glass spirit level, and the pivoting eyepiece cover. The black paint is generally intact. The bare iron surfaces (iron screw heads and places where the black paint is scuffed) have a light patina of rust. The brass surfaces of the sight tube are partly bright.
