Item listed is a Used Briggs & Stratton 5hp Horizonal Shaft Snow Blower Engine. This was originally installed on a Montgomery Ward's Snowblower, Based on my inspection this doesn't appear to have a lot of hours on it. The Cylinder looked good and still has cross-hatches visable from when the block was machined. The Valves have been checked and are well within specification. It appears the previous owner had replaced the Breaker Points not long before they quit using the engine, they are in good shape and I verified they are adjusted to spec. This engine had been sitting for a while. The Oil Drained Clean, I drained the old gas and cleaned the tank up the best I could- for the most part the gas tank is clean and rust-free, I don't anticipate any problems. The Gas Tank to Carburetor Gasket has been replaced as well as the Carburetor Diapragm. The engine burns clean, does not smoke and has good healthy compression. This engine starts up and runs well cold or warm, runs smoothly in all speed ranges and idles nicely. The Speed Control and Shut-off is set up to be operated by controls on the engine. A Remote Cable can be attached under the Gas Tank and there is a connection terminal for a remote kill switch. This is Electric Start Ready- the engine has a Ring-Gear on the Flywheel and the Mounting Provision on the Block for an Electric Starter, these starters are listed here on ebay and are simple to install. The recoil starter is in good working condition. *Engine has been properly cleaned, scuffed/sanded, etch-primed and painted. The Crankshaft is 3/4" diameter and is 2&1/4" long. There is a 5/16 hole drilled/tapped in the Crankshaft. The Camshaft (small secondary PTO) is 1/2" diameter, keyed, and 1&1/2" long. I do have a Sump Cover and Camshaft available for standard single (Crankshaft) PTO setup- feel free to inquire if you need this option. *This engine would require an Air Filter installed if it were to be used for anything else but a Snow Blower.
