Up for sale is a Brother 4100 business class fax machine, gently used (all good, but no claims to be cosmetically perfect- there may be minor scratches or a smudges on it). Functionally, in excellent working order. I am not aware of any operational defects. I've learned and used as many of the programmable features as I have found necessary. The onscreen menu is easy to follow and the operator's manual, which can easily be found as a pdf online (for no cost), is also well written and easy to follow. A couple of the fold out paper supports are missing, but this does not affect function. Their absence never bothered me or any other user in our office. Fully functional and ready to go to work. This is a no-nonsense, professional piece of equipment which will allow you to get to work. Don't waste time with a light duty fax machine from a big box store. This is a laser printing (cheap to operate, uses toner). Toner has some use on it but still has plenty in it. Uses ordinary letter size printer paper. No special paper required. You can send and receive faxes reliably and at high speed, no fuss. I bought this unit lightly used, had it professionally serviced with a brand new, genuine scanning element installed and professional cleaning. I used this unit for a brief time at an independent satellite office I set up. Now, although I think it is a great piece of equipment, I no longer have the need for it. Before selecting and purchasing this unit, I did exhaustive research on different fax machines out there. I remain satisfied with my selection. Downside: this machine is fairly heavy in weight. Just be aware of that. It is obvious to see it is a more heavy duty, professional piece than something one may find at Office Depot or similar big box store. Provided you do not intend to move it around often, this should not be a problem. At first I thought it was overkill to pursue such a large, heavy duty fax machine, but after using it the first few times I did not give it a second thought. I decided I did not want my business and work performance to be reflected on by unreliable, cheaply made stuff not working as it should. When I have gone to other offices and seen people fiddling with cheap home-use fax machines, I am glad many times over that I did not make that mistake. Whether or not you decide to bid on this listing or even if you decide to buy the same item from another, know that this model machine is not just a workhorse but a 'thoroughbred'.
