Brother and Smith Corona were slugging it out for typewriter market share in the 1980s and 1990s until computer-connected printers practically wiped out stand-alone typewriter sales in the USA. Brother still makes and sells typewriters very similar to this one, essentially the same mechanism and using same supplies, just different styling. Both brands made excellent, rugged electronic typewriters. Lots of features available, but very easy to use as plain-vanilla typing machines if that is all you need. Very full-featured, with easy-to-use underlining, bold typing, choice of line and character spacing, and lots more. I could not locate the EXACT owners manual for this model, AX-550, but it has almost identical features as the GX-8000, and I am including a copy of the manual for that one on CDR. (Just in case a feature is not covered, I am including copies of manuals for several other slightly different Brother models on the CDR.) The ribbon in it is partly used, prints well. Correction tape is weak, may be dried out, so I am including TWO MORE NEW correction tape spools. Also TWO MORE NEW RIBBONS. These supplies are readily available and are used on current Brother models such as the GX-6750 and AX-4000. Printwheel in this one is the standard "Brougham 10"; its printing looks about like this. Other styles of printwheels are still available, but NOT included in this listing (I don't have any!). They change out in seconds. I do offer combined shipping for CDs and DVDs. Added shipping in USA is $1 for each additional SINGLE disc, get quote for other stuff. Must wait for my revised invoice and pay for all together, for full discount. Generally this indicates that the real thing looks just like the stock photo unless I say otherwise. I will NOT show a misleading photo deliberately.
