C/ESR Meter Measuring Range: Capacitance: 1 – 150,000 ?F  ESR: 0 – 10 ? Usage: The instrument primarily measures electrolyte capacitor parameters. It measures capacitor capacitance and ESR (equivalent series resistance). ESR may be seen as a resistor connected to an ideal capacitor. A high ESR value indicates a defective component. The meter may be successfully used to measure contact resistance of up to 10 ?. Measuring: Turn the instrument on by pushing the button in its left bottom corner. Place the probes on the measured component. Wait till the measured value settles, and then read it. The measuring circuit is protected by its antiparallel set of diodes; however, always measure only discharged capacitors. You may measure capacitors that are still installed in circuits. Make sure the power supply is off and capacitors discharged. Only a very small voltage is used for measuring, about 200 mV. Therefore, it is possible to measure capacitors connected to integrated circuits, etc. Nevertheless, keep in mind that other circuit components may impact your measuring. Instrument Power Supply: The instrument uses a 9V battery, the 6F22 or 6LR61 types. The supply voltage must not exceed 10 V. If the voltage drops below about 7.5 V, the instrument notifies you after you turn it on. The instrument automatically shuts down after about 2 minutes of idling in order to save the battery.
