- Raw plain veneer with no backing = 1/32"-1/42" To cut, use a razor or box knife along a straight edge. Apply paper-backed and wood-backed veneers with contact cement, while white or yellow wood glue works for raw plain veneer that needs pressure applied while it dries. Most conventional finishing products can be used on veneer that's been properly applied. Thickness varies but can be relatively close to the following: The pictures on this listing show the veneer's natural grain temporarily wet to simulate the look when finished. While we've made an effort to adjust colors accurately, it's impossible to get perfect photos. Please note that veneers can contain minor splits, tears, and other imperfections that are usually repaired with tape or filler. Wood products are naturally imperfect, and some sanding may be necessary to prepare for finishing. Complete instructions come with backed products to make applying them easy. For raw or un-backed veneer products, we suggest consulting the Internet for instructions as opinions vary. Below we provide general information that applies to most products. Each purchase includes only one piece, as pictured. Flattening raw veneer before lamination is typically necessary, but it's a simple process. Burl woods often contain small holes that require wood filler.
