This is a CD, not a book.  It consists of PDF format scans of an old book manufactured by the maker of hump yard equipment. HUMP YARD DESIGN, EQUIPMENT AND OPERATION is a CD containing 75 pages of detailed photos, drawings and information from the manufacturer of hump yard equipment in the 1920s. The original book was called The Design of Retarder Yards and Retarders and it is presented here as it was originally published. 75 pages.   All carefully scanned, digitally enhanced and re-sized to fit a standard size sheet of typing paper so you can print out any or all of the pages in great detail. From the invention of the hump yard through the design and installation of the concept on major railroads, this book provides a fascinating insight into one of the most interesting parts of prototype railroad yards, the hump yard. The equipment is shown and explained.  Several prototype yard designs including track layout and grades are also shown. What happens when a box car comes down the slope at too great a speed?  You'll find out how they handled this rare situation. This CD is designed to work in all computers and is in Adobe PDF Format.
