For rough and finishing, use square-shaped 25003-81 GOST plates with negative rake angle and plate thickness of 8mm and 4mm, respectively. Rhombic-shaped plates with an angle of 75 and 80В° are ideal for roughing, while those with an angle of 55В° are great for turning on the copier, longitudinal turning, and trimming the ends. Lastly, round-shaped plates are best for processing smooth surfaces without ledges. These mineral ceramic plates come in square, triangular, round, and rhombic VOK-VOK 60-71 shapes. The plates are less prone to grip with material, built-up edge, chip shrinkage, temperature increase during cutting of metals, and have low thermal conductivity. However, they are prone to cracking when heated and cooled rapidly. If you're machining gray and hardened parts of steel and cast iron, use mineral ceramic plates B3, Wok-60, VOK-63, VOK-71, VOK-200, and VOX-300.
