3.5oz 100g Cerium Oxide Fine Micron Grade Optical Glass Polishing Powder - White Our Professional Grade Fine Cerium Oxide is a rare earth mineral used for the final polishing blemishes, scuffs, light scratches, lime scale and adhesive residue. Can be used on any type of glass including toughened glass. Average Particle Size 2.5 micron. Is high grade refined and perfect for generating optical glass polish. High suspension in water and quick polishing when used with any felt polishing product, No sharp edges, fast acting scratch removal. An abrasive for the polishing of flat glass. This Cerium Oxide can be used with a hand pad for light surface cleanup, powered hand devices for scratch and surface repair, mechanized scrubbers in mirror silvering lines, or as the final polishing step in multi-stage edging and beveling equipment. How to use it: Measure out the proper proportions of heated water (at least 80?F/30?C) and Cerium Oxide into a container and mix thoroughly. Slurry temperature should be maintained between 90?F and 105?F (32?C and 40?C) for optimum performance. Depending on how much water you mix with will depend on the abrasive quality of the paste. If you want a more aggressive paste mix with only a little water, if you are looking to just polish the glass surface then mix with more water. Use by hand with polishing cloth or polishing hand pad: Make into a paste or slurry with water. Apply using a soft cloth or sponge, rub vigorously across the scratch until it is gone. Wipe clean and buff. Use with electric polisher: Clean the glass surface to ensure that all dust and stray particles have been removed. Fit a felt polishing pad to the Backing pad and apply half a tea spoon size amount of the cerium oxide slurry to the middle of the polishing pad and place the face of the pad on the glass. Start the drill or polishing machine. Keeping the polishing face flat against the glass, move the drill / polisher slowly from left to right, up and down. Keep a nice even pressure against the glass as you move the pad over the glass. After a few seconds of polishing, milky looking slurry will form. Continue polishing until the slurry is dry. Add water to the pad or glass and repeat this process as many times as necessary until the glass is visually clear. Wipe the surface clean and inspect carefully. The glass surface should now be crystal clear. Please note for scratch removing only : if you can catch or feel scratches with your finger nail it's probably to deep to recover damage with cerium oxide powder and glass abrasive process might be necessary.
