Check Source for Geiger Counter, 2g Monazite (Thorium Ore) Impregnated Acrylic Cube Condition is New. Shipped with USPS wrapped  in plastic and bubble wrap. Each cube contains at least 2g of powdered monazite (high grade thorium ore) impregnated into an acrylic cube. Monazite contains 3.5-10% thorium dioxide and emits alpha particles and undergoes beta and gamma decay. 74% of the activity from this specimen will come from alpha particles and the remaining 26% will be from beta and or gamma decay. One side of the cube will contain more monazite than the others. The bottom side of the cube looks slightly darker then the other 5 sides and it is directly opposite the slightly concave side with the small bubbles. The 2g cube weighs approximately 5.9g and is approximately 9/16 " or 16mm on all sides. This listing meets the requirements of NRC 10 CFR 40.22 It also meets U.S.P.S domestic shipping requirements for exempt limited quantities of class 7 materials according to --347.22 "are eligible under 49 CFR to be shipped as excepted packages for limited quantities" and --Exhibit 347.22 Activity Limits-- and also --173.435-- Table of A1 and A2 values This specimen is not recommended for dosimeters that do not detect alpha particles.
