Chicago Latrobe 1-5/16", Morse Taper, 6 Straight Flutes, Tapered Cutter Reamer Vintage N.O.S. Chicago Latrobe Part #8224 1-5/16" Machine Reamer - Made in the U.S.A. -   #4 Morse Taper High Speed Steel 6 Straight Flutes Tapered Tip Tapered Cutting Section O.A. Length:  13" Cutter Length:  7-1/8" Condition: We believe this reamer is N.O.S. (New Old Stock). We obtained a quantity of these reamers, and they appear to have never been used. We are not machinists, but we have done our best to honestly and accurately describe and grade these tools. Here is how we assume that they came to be in their current state:      They seem to have been originally coated (with plastic or wax) on the cutting section.  Then they were stored for MANY years, and the shanks (non-cutting section) became lightly rusted.  Then they appear to have been chemically dipped, to remove the rust.  Finally, the protective coating was removed from the cutting section.      The final result is that the shanks are now rust-free, but did have some rust at one time.  However, the cutting sections (flutes) of the reamers have NEVER been rusted, and are in NEW CONDITION.  They are extremely sharp, so handle with care.
