During freezing weather there is no built in system to prevent freezing, and the waterer will not function when frozen. My waterer has went through many freezing and thawing cycles with no ill effect. During cold nights with warmer daytime temperatures I keep water flowing to the bucket as it will thaw and be usable through the day. I am currently testing different ways of keeping the waterer from freezing, but they are expensive. How many birds will one bucket water? There are a lot of variables involved, the most I have had served by one bucket is 50 birds.
