Look at the condition of this item! The dial and window are free of stress cracks.  Be the first on your block to own a vintage Victoreen CD-715 Radiation Detector with the extras you see in the photos including the manuals. This has an original Civil Defense Box which in itself is a collectible and conversation piece. The items are marked with the well known CD symbol. The Geiger or Radiation Counter dimensions are about 8 1/4 inches long and is about 4 1/2 inches wide. This kit is in good physical condition as you can see with no rust or major wear. We don’t suggest using it unless you get it calibrated. It uses 1 "D" battery and it appears to work but we don't have a radioactive source to test it. We put a “D” cell battery in and the “Circuit Test Switch” works. Sorry, I took out the battery.. Look at the photo for details. The CD V-715 is a very high-range gamma radiation detecting instrument. It's not a Geiger counter but an instrument that was designed for use by radiological monitors for the major part of their operation in the period following an attack. The instrument is set to use the test knob. To test it:  Insert a “D” battery. Turn the top knob left to the circuit check and hold it there while you turn the lower knob to the left or right to zero out the needle.  We tested it by turning the Test Dial and the needle  before shipping  and the needle does move.  Consider this auction item used.  Look at the photos and as the auctioneer says, “Help yourselves girls and boys. It’s here to sell without a reserve.”        8 pound shipping
