For your consideration, I am offering this Civil Defense CDV-715 Model 1A radiological survey meter.  The meter was manufactured by the Victoreen Instrument Company.  The Victoreen Instrument Company, along with a few other companies, manufactured these meters for the United States Department of Defense, Office of Civilian Defense.  They were distributed to municipalities and schools across the United States for preparation and training during the Cold War.  A time when tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union were high and a neuclear war was a possibility.  These meters were stored in nuclear fallout shelters and used in schools to teach students about nuclear radiation and how to use radiation monitoring instruments. This particular meter came from the Maricopa County, Arizona Department of Emergency Management.  Most likely it came from somewhere in the Phoenix Metro area.   The CDV-715 is a high level radiation measuring instrument used to measure levels of Gama radiation as high as 500 roentgens per hour.  These are always listed on eBay as Geiger counters.  I can not stress this enough, this is NOT a Geiger counter.  If you buy this thinking it is a Geiger counter you will be disappointed.  It takes a significant radioactive source for this meter to operate.  Conditionaly it is in good condition. There are very few minor chips, scratches and scuffs in the paint. The meter case has a dent in the corner with paint chipping around it.  I tried to photograph all of these conditions. The inside is very clean, and has NO corrosion from leaking batteries. I can not fully function test this meter as I do not have a radioactive source large enough.  I won't guarantee the accuracy of the meter as it probably should be calibrated.  I can tell you the meter does turn on.  The zero adjustment works.  When the sector knob is turned to "circuit check" the meter needle sweeps over between the circuit check lines.  When the selector knob is turned to any of the four multiplier selections the meter needle twitches a bit and returns to zero.  The head phone jack is operational. The meter requires one D size batteries to operate. The battery is not included. This meter will ship in a U.S. Postal Service medium Priority Mail flat rate box.
