Clay Adams NUTATOR -- LIKE NEW, WORKS PERFECTLY! I used to use a Nutator like this all the time in my lab. CAUTION: watching one of these rotate your samples around ever so gently can be a hypnotic experience... I've included pictures of it in multiple positions so you can tell that it works! This Clay Adams Nutator looks like it was barely used. Apart from some ID stickers and the name of the lab it used to belong to, it looks practically new. As you fellow lab rats know, you can have a piece of equipment in the lab for years, but some items see very little actual use. I suspect this device would fall into that category. Here's what you need to know: 1) The platform runs ("nutates") perfectly. It does not freeze up, stall, or make any grinding noises. 2) It is CLEAN! There are no nasty stains or corrosion anywhere on the rubber mat (removable) or on the device itself. When I acquired it at a lab liquidation, I noticed that the rubber mat wasn't even dusty. NOTE: I have not used it further other than to turn it on. 3) It can hold a load of 795 g (1.75 lbs). I have seen people lay a bunch several layers deep on the platform and keep them all in place with some rubber bands. 4) The platform measures 24 cm x 13 cm (9.4" x 5.1"). For those of you who don't know what a Nutator is or why you should use one, here some info: - The platform is "balanced" on one point in the middle, and "rolls" in a circular motion. - The rolling motion causes the mixing to be very gentle and thorough, as the liquids mix in three dimensions (left, right, forward, backward, up, down). - Because the device is small, it can be used inside a refrigerator or incubator. These things are SO expensive new, and still expensive even after they've been heavily used. On a large retail site (named after a long river), a similar one goes for $445 new. Here on eBay, even BROKEN ones go for nearly $100 for parts!
