5pk of Angled Universal Quartz Unions (Original Restek Specification* but they no longer offer these.) Pack of 5 Angled Pres2Fit(TM) unions fit 0.25 to 0.53 bore capillary columns (OD 0.30mm to 0.75mm) from any manufacturer and conform to standard 8 inch column cages. (The angle functions to reduce stresses on the column at the union opening by reducing the contact pressure between the column and the opening as the column conforms to the curvature of the column cage.) Identical or superior to products that used to be carried by instrument and column manufacturers and were manufactured to Restek's original specification (1994). 100% satisfaction guaranteed. While these unions are certainly a value at this price, compared to prices in catalogs, if you ever have trouble with carrier gas leaks using unions you should consider IQ's new specification, Pres2fit (tm) brand unions. The new specifications include much tighter dimensional tolerances (3-fold less variability in sealing function, less restriction to flow), lower surface activity (by as much as an order of magnitude), higher fracture strength (almost twice as strong) and insertion cones on all ends (makes chipping the capillary upon insertion far less likely). Pres2fit (tm) brand grabs onto capillary like nothing you've seen before. They are the original specification, which means that in comparison to our new specification products they have a bit more than double the tolerance on the bore minimum (center of hourglass), all on the low side, so they restrict more than twice as much as our new specification connectors. This also means the unions are not chamfered at the openings so there will be a bit more stress on the column where it contacts the side of the opening, where there is less pressure in contact with our new specification. And it means the unions were cleaned by basic solution, hydrothermal etching, so there is up to an order of magnitude more surface area due to microscopic pitting, and they break more easily as a result. But they worked well enough for the 18-years that we made them for Restek and others...so you decide if a couple of bucks savings is justified or not.
