CM -Columbus Mckinnon, (3) Ton Come-Along, 640 series Aluminum Puller.(This is a 2-parted1-1/2 ton) 5' lifting range.USA Made. I disassembled, stripped,cleaned,inspected,reassembled & LOAD Tested this come-a-long. It is Good. *It will Hold & control lower a heavy load (without running). Frees nicely.Good clutches. CM 640 series Come-a-longs are the best.However, similar to a Ferrari they require maintenance. If left exposed to the weather too long,they are susceptible to "free chain" performance problems. This causes many to be incorrectly over-lubricated,thus reducing their performance substantially. Therefore,I strongly Suggest that If you buy a used CM be sure it is LOAD TESTED . Load testing is THE ONLY WAY to ensure that it works properly. DO NOT be taken in by Ebay sellers who say that they tested it by "working the mechanism" 7 out of 10 of these I buy used are not working correctly(that is why they are sold off) If cared for properly and not left out in the weather, this come-a-long will provide a lifetime of service.Important to remember this model has gone unchanged for decades, and parts are available for it.
