SLOCON  KZT is with minimal expenditure to wire; in general, that means, except the use of fuses, the phases and the motor contacts will be direct wired to the respective input and output contacts of the switching element. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION    Likethe classic star-delta contactor combinations, also thestar-to-triangle switching element uses the fact that motor torque isproportional to the square of the terminal voltage. In order to avoidthe inrush and starting current surges caused by any direct-on-linestarting, which is the cheapest, but most destructive way of start-up,the star-to-triangle switching element changes the motor windingconfiguration from an initial star connection to a delta connection asthe motor accelerates. The changeover or transition point is controlledby a timer module (adjustable from 0-90 sec.) and is usually arrangedto be at 80% of full speed. The effect of starting in "star" is toalter the voltage across each stator winding to 58 % of normal,reducing the starting torque to a third of locked rotor torque with aconsequence reduction in starting currents and acceleration forces. Theclassic solution to achieve such a switch over from star to triangleconnection consists of four components (three contactors and one timermodule) is now substituted by one single element, which contains threelogic units, # Section (I), the con-version unit transforms the electric signal, pro-vided via the input ter-minal, into a mechanic position. # Section (II), the switch-ing unit, transfers the mechanic position into the respective contact combination. # Section (III),the con-trol unit, bears the elec-tronic timer and control card, whichcontrol the conversion unit and provides for the status indicators. realizingthe switchover through a patented ELECTRO-MECHANIC SYSTEM, which isreliable, easy and with minimal costs to maintain and simple to wire.The WIRING of the star-to-delta switching element is very simple andquick.
