During the Second World War, copper acetate proved useful as shark repellent. Payment via PayPal is happily accepted, but must be made within 2 days after the end of the auction; returns are not allowed due to its "sold as is" policy. It has a molecular weight of 181.63 g/mol (anhydrous), a density of 1.882 g/cm3 (monohydrate), and a solubility rate of 72 g/L (25В°C). The resulting solid either serves as a pigment or is combined with arsenic trioxide to form copper acetoarsenite, a potent insecticide and fungicide commonly referred to as Paris Green or Schweinfurt Green. Even though it was briefly tested, it was still successful under war conditions. Copper acetates have a long history of usage, for they have been used as fungicides and green pigments since ancient times. The commercial market offers the hydrated form that contains one molecule of water for each Cu atom. The dark green crystalline solid of anhydrous Cu(OAc)2, while Cu2(OAc)4(H2O)2 has a bluish-green tinge. Detailed scrutiny of the provided photos is highly encouraged before purchasing. Today, copper acetates work as reagents for the synthesis of various inorganic and organic compounds. Copper acetate, also known as cupric acetate, is a powerful chemical compound with the formula Cu(OAc)2, where OAc- denotes acetate (CH3CO2-). This characteristic compound appears as a blue crystalline powder that is slightly soluble in water, but soluble in diluted acid and ammonia water, and easily dissolvable in hot citric acid solution. Like all copper compounds, copper acetate gives off a blue-green glow when exposed to flame.
