Submerged pumps do not have a standard hooking attachment for lifting and therefore rely on being able to guide a hook onto whatever hooking attachment is located on the pump. The other pictured Platycat Snatcher unit (Keyway) is securely attached to each item requiring lifting & lowering. To Lift Pump • Set up crane in normal position at pump station •Lower Platycat Snatcher unit towards pump. When the Platycat Snatcher contacts the key on top of the pump, the unit will align itself to the key and the unit will lock on to the pump. • Once you have connected and the area is safe, raise the pump out of the pump station. To Lower Pump • The Platycat Snatcher is used to safely lower the pump. Because of its inbuilt safety features, there is no need to change the hook. • Lower the pump down the guide rails towards its normal operating position (pedestal). Importantly, the Platycat Snatcher system still allows the operator to manipulate crane wire and manoeuvre the pump to ensure it is seated properly, thus minimising the likelihood of blowouts. • Once the operator is satisfied the pump is seated in its correct position, they can take the weight off the lifting mechanism. Only when the weight is taken off will the Platycat Snatcher allow the release mechanism to be activated. •Operate the release mechanism and raise the Platycat Snatcher unit.
