While some descriptions may suggest that you can cook frozen product in these units, it's important to note that this process can be time-consuming. For best results, we recommend adding "hot" food to these units as they hold your food perfectly. If you do decide to cook food in the APW Cook/Hold, we recommend using water to create steam under the food pan. This will significantly enhance your results, as we discovered when a customer had trouble cooking hamburger meat in her 11 Qt unit. Once we suggested she use water/steam, she was able to get her product hot enough. It's important to note, however, that these units are primarily designed for holding food, rather than cooking. We don't want to mislead anyone, especially if you're solely using "dry heat." Unfortunately, this will not work with the APW Cook/Hold. So, if you're looking for a way to keep your food warm and ready to serve, this countertop warmer/cooker is a reliable choice.
