1950's or 60's vintage Crane water/steam gate value, bronze construction.  This is a spare from the parts bin of a long-defunctfamily business.  I know my dad kept these as working spares, and given the quality of construction, I believe it is very likely to still work up to spec.  While having helped wrench some of these guys in and out in my youth, I won't pretend to have much knowledge of current valve technology or applications.  I hope I'm at least correct in describing it as a gate value; I'm guessing the 125 designation is its rated working pressure.  I can confirm that it worked fine at residential water pressure (I did a quick test for my own amusement), but can not guarantee it would be leak free at rated pressure. Quite possibly a buyer will be more interested in this item as steam-punk art, or maybe just for the scrap bronze value (though I've probably priced it a bit above that threshold).  This listing is my experiment to see if anyone is interested in such things -- I have about a dozen of them.  The last photo shows the valve on a scale to emphasize its heavy construction - it weighs a bit over 7 pounds. Thanks for your interest, and happy bidding (if anyone does so).
tested only to low water pressure - appearance suggests very good condition, likely to hold rated pressure, but not guaranteed.
