Cummings Business Machines Check Date Punch Model 300 This unit has a very heavy metal chassis. On the front is a set of six wheels and locking levers used for setting the date; the format is MM·DD·YY. There's also a special star pattern in the first digit of the months place. The decade wheel only has the digits 5-9, but there's also a blank space available in all six places so it can still be used during 2000-2049 with only modest ambiguity. The unit punches a pattern of holes in paper automatically when it's inserted. There's also a built-in template that stamps "EDM" below the date, it's not known how easily replaced this template is. The outer insulation on the power cord is badly cracked along its entire length, having hardened to inflexibility with age, but the inner insulation is still intact and flexible. How the unit was tested: The unit was plugged in and paper inserted, and it punched the correct date automatically. The chads are collected in a removable drawer underneath.
