Typical food trailers are powered by diesel generators which have major functional and aesthetic issues- they are loud, smell like diesel fumes and require constant maintenance. We solved the power issue by using the batteries from a Tesla Model S that had been involved in an accident with less than 2,000 miles on the car. The extremely protected battery case was left completely undamaged. The individual battery modules were rearranged to supply 48 VDC power to a 5 KVA inverter that supplies 110 VAC power to the trailer. The power system has a capacity of 65 KWH which is more than enough to power all food appliances and air conditioning for 2-3 days before needing to be recharged. Then simply recharge from a 110 VAC 20-50 amp outlet. The system is COMPLETELY silent and requires 0 maintenance. These extremely high quality batteries are expected to maintain at least 70% capacity after 10 years of use! CHARGING THE BATTERIES When the batteries get low, just plug into an outlet like you would plug an RV into (110v 20, 30 or 50 amp) and they'll be charged back up in one night and ready to go! Charging the batteries costs less than $5 and will power the trailer for days! The walls and ceiling of the trailer have been reinforced so that 1000 lbs of solar panels will be installed on the roof, allowing the trailer to stay completely off-grid!
