Cutting Construction Cost Corners 1928 Civil Engineering Building & Construction        This is a 180 page, 4 5/8” x 8 1/8” hardcover book titled Cutting Construction Cost Corners.  The book is a collection of Practical Suggestions for Time Saving Labor on Civil Engineering and Construction Work.   The articles in the book were originally published by Engineering News-Record.   This book was copyrighted in 1928 by McGraw-Hill Publishing Co. As stated in the books Preface – The material in the book is intended to be of use to contractors, civil engineers, construction engineers, superintendents and foremen by indicating to them methods of handling details of their work quickly, cheaply, and effectively.  As a rule the articles are short, dealing with a single construction feature which actual experience has proved valuable.  In a few cases longer articles have been included to sum up the best current practice in important kinds of work.  Explanations of construction kinks are most effective when accompanied by a photograph or a drawing.  Often the illustration tells the whole story.   For that reason an unusually large number of cuts is used in the text that follows; only enough reading matter is given to explain the detail under consideration.   The material has been assembled under fourteen main headings...    Content headings are: Construction ; Concrete and Concrete Materials ; Structural ; Sewers ; Welding Operations ; Construction Safety ; Highways and Traffic ; Tunnels ; Surveying ; Hydraulic ; Water Supply ; Waterways ; Railways ; Miscellaneous.   Condition – There are numerous illustrations throughout the book including many photographic picture illustrations.  The book is clean, completer and tightly bound.   The dark red cover cloth with black front cover print is unfaded and wear is minimal.  The corners are bumped but there is no worn through nor frayed cloth.   There is a previous owners neatly name ink stamped on the otherwise blank front end page.   There are no other markings in the book.   Pages are bright and crisp.  There are no torn, missing, loose, creased or marked pages.  The book is in very good+ condition.   This book will make a valued addition to your collection of old engineering or construction books. Buyer pays S&H. Payment must be via paypal. Books will be shipped in hardboard packages. When available, shipping may be via media mail. Wherever possible, multiple auction purchases ending the same day, will be combined in a single package with the total shipping cost reduced and adjusted for the combined weight.
