(Pa) Engines: Detroit Diesel Box Size: 18" x 10" x "7" Weight: 30 pounds This unit is still in the original manufacturer's packaging and boxes (above). The boxes were so well packed that I couldn't bring myself to unpack them to take photos, so I decided to instead just include the manufacturer's three drawings (below). They illustrate the tool and its insertion into the motor. I know very little about this expensive tool. Those of you who are interested in buying it will undoubtedly know a more about it than I. So, with that in mind, here is all I've been able to find out: This tool, the 304-J24563A, is used to remove the cylinder liner for certain diesel engines. I'm not sure of all the engines it works on, but I know that it works on some or all of what's called the "Detroit 92" series engines, which were introduced in 1973. I know it works with the Detroit 92 engine number 8V92. Others in the series are the 6V92, 6V92TA, 8V92TA, 12V92, 12V92TA, 16V92, and 16V92TA; I don't know whether it works with these engines or not. If you have any information about that, I'd be very appreciative to hear about it. The Detroit 92 engines were used in a wide variety of marine, military, industrial, and construction applications. Also, I don't know about the application of this tool to any engines other than the Detroit 92 series. Please let me know if you have or can find any of this sort of information.
