Using the DCT Holdfast is quick and easy with its quick clamping and quick release design. To use, simply drill a vertical 3/4-inch hole in your workbench top and drop the holdfast in place. When the arm contacts the top of your stock, give the holdfast head a firm tap until it jams tightly in the hole. To disengage your work from the clamp, tap the backside of the vertical shaft to unjam from the hole and release your work. Here are some helpful tips to ensure optimal use of the holdfast: make sure your bench top is thicker than 2.5 inches and that the holdfast is not too loose in the dog hole. If you extend the holdfast too high in an effort to hold something out of its working range, it will not be able to develop enough of a bind in the dog hole and will be loose. We suggest using a scrap of wood as a pad between the holdfast and the workpiece so the holdfast can be tapped hard without damaging your stock.
