Variable Speed Dekatron Spinner Kit - Printed Circuit Board ONLY In kit form, get yourself a dekatron spinner. This spinner uses a neon relaxation oscillator to govern its speed, so you're not dependent on the AC line frequency. Its also powered from low voltage. 12VDC or 9VAC are the preferred input voltages. Up to 16VDC acceptable. The circuit only draws 120mA at 12V. There's a spot for a 5.5mm OD x 2.5mm ID power jack, so wallcubes, with current capacities as low as 200mA (higher better) can be used to power it. You're not 'slaved' to the AC line, so power it from your car lighter jack ! Also, because it has an on board switching supply, its much safer, than many of the 'direct' AC powered circuits seen on the Web. It still generates 450V, so it will still bite you, if you're not careful. Still, much safer than other circuits. Switcher based on the LM393 Dual Comparator. It is the same, latest revision, board used on the "complete" kit. Here's a link to all the instructions you need to build this kit, once you receive the bare board: Spinner Kit. There are many sources available, for dekatrons, both on eBay, and elsewhere online. This board is prewired for the Russian OG-4, neon filled dekatron. It can, however, be rewired for any octal base dekatron. This is all shown in the instructions at the given link. Since, you only got the bare board, I suspect you know where to get all the other components. Dekatrons are remarkable tubes. They were used from 1950 to late 1960's.
