Electronic Component X-Y Tracker Circuit Tester, Add on for Your Oscilloscope! This is a deluxe electronic component tester with three voltage ranges: *8 Volts Peak, with 300 ohms series resistance, maximum short circuit current of 20mA (AC) 10mA DC *16 Volts Peak, with 600 ohms series resistance, maximum short circuit current of 20mA (AC) 10mA DC *33 Volts Peak, with two settings: 2200 / 3300 ohms series resistance, maximum short circuit current of 10mA / 7mA This is an export model that I will internally connect for: 120 VAC 60Hz (USA), or 220VAC 50-60Hz (in most other countries). It's power connector accepts a standard APC power cord. You will need to supply a power cord if you are outside the United States. Sale includes the tracker accessory pictured, two 20" BNC cables, a pair of 36" hand-made Test Probes, a pair of 10" test leads with mini hooks, one IR photo transistor, and four pages of instructions. A great setup for quickly checking Diodes, Transistor junctions, and Capacitors from 0.1uF, to over 1000uF by expanding the controls. The high range helps with testing capacitors down to .1uF, high resistances, and high breakdown voltage semiconductors. The lowest range is great for testing 3.3V CMOS, germanium and other voltage sensitive components. Test Resistors, Inductors, Fuses, and Transformer windings for continuity. Also use it to check IR remotes (infrared light sensing transistor included). Integrated circuit pin combinations can be checked also.  Besides typical shorts, or open failures, damaged components can have leaky junctions that will test "GOOD" unless subjected to enough voltage for the junction to breakdown. A typical good junction will exhibit nice right angles, and a faulty junction will show a curved or noisy trace. This is a great all-round tester for transistors, rectifiers, resistors, speakers, coils, crossover capacitors, making cables, testing heatsink insulators, and easily finding your way through complex electrical arrangments.  I have successfully used this tester to evaluate CMOS power transistors in car audio power amplifiers (low settings). You will need to have a basic oscilloscope and connect to the "X" and "Y" inputs to your scope. Setting your oscilloscope to X/Y mode is about as complicated as it will get. Even the very old single trace oscilloscopes usually have a "Horizontal input" and work very well with my testers. I have a Tektronix Model T932 reserved for my tester. It is a 35MHz dual trace, placed high on my workbench, and connected to my tester at all times. I use it to check unpowered components in power supplies, amplifiers, TV, Radio, etc..  It's a great opportunity to place that vintage scope above your workbench and make it very useful.  Your oscilloscope must have an External Horizontal input or X/Y mode. Most oscilloscopes have this feature, and just about every vintage scope does. However alot of handheld types, including many USB oscilloscope computer plugins do not have X/Y mode capability.  My testers are basic, and cost much less than most commercial trackers available. There are several hundred of my  component testers on work-stations and production lines, in operation today. A must have for starter / alternator shops, electric vehicle maintenance, CNC control boards, and consumer electronics as well.  This is my latest model. It is housed in a 6 x 3 x 2 inch ABS plastic case.  I am available via ebay messaging or electronics3000(at)cox.net for technical support. Oscilloscope not included.
