The DVM 500 Plus Digital In-Car Video System utilizes the latest generation of technology that is so small and advanced that the entire Digital Video System is integrated into a rear view mirror that replaces the standard vehicle mirror. The video monitor is located behind a high quality “one-way” mirror so that when it’s not in use, it’s invisible. The unique design of the system allows it to be installed in any make or model of vehicle. How and when you record is up to you. You can record whenever the ignition is on, you can record when you push a button, or you can record when you push a button or upon an event trigger such as when a certain speed is exceeded, when there is a sudden deceleration or acceleration, when you brake, use your signals or turn on your siren or emergency lights. With the system’s pre-record feature, up to 60 seconds of video is captured before a button or an event triggers a recording and this pre-record is added to the recording- this is truly an important and remarkable feature. Record standard definition “SD” color video and audio from up to two cameras and two audio channels. The systems being sold comes with a visor mounted external camera and the system’s built-in rear-view camera, microphone and infrared illumination which are not visible. The built-in camera and microphone allow recording of video and audio conversation and incidents in the rear of the vehicle even at night. In record mode the system’s built-in GPS continuously monitors and records location coordinates and speed. Later when viewing a recording you have the option to view the images from the camera side by side with a map showing the real-time location of the vehicle at that moment as tracked by the GPS data. The system has a built-in GPS antenna but you may need an inexpensive optional GPS antenna (internal or external.) The optional GPS antennas are about $35. Optional viewing software may be required to view the gps data. The system’s wireless capability allows an optional wireless microphone to provide audio recording of out-of-the-vehicle audio incidents and conversation from up to about 1,000 feet from the vehicle along with the video being captured by the main camera. The optional wireless microphone and charger is available for about $450. Access the data from the system's built-in viewer, usb cable, with a digital card reader and PC, or purchase the optional wireless data download manager and wireless download hardware. The DVM 500 Plus system is sold new by Digital Ally at a list price of over $4,200.
