Dillon Model AP   5000 lb. full scale Dynamometer New close-up pictures are now in the photo gallery !  Originally there was to be a trio of these units on a work truck as having three strain gauges with one on each guy wire of a tower makes it ever so easy to adjust tensions evenly. One of these units never made it to the first job site and the two offered here went onto the shelf in the store room forgotten for years.    Acquired originally from another engineering activity, these gauges were represented as being new. The lack of any tooling marks at all on the shackles and the presence of the original vendor cards in the carrying cases leads us to believe that this is true.  These are Dillon model AP units with a very useful 5,000 pound full scale capability with marks at 50 pound increments.  A healthy shackle is attached on each side of the meter to allow connection between lift and load.  The round scale is 5 inches in diameter under a protected window and the overall meter diameter is very nearly 6 inches.  This full scale of 5,000 pounds is extremely useful and appropriate for adjusting tower or utility guy line initial tensions on wire rope to nearly 3/4 inch in diameter.  Red memory indicator is used to record max tension experience during use.  Also quite useful for dividing material by weight for balancing loads on trailers, pallets, boat decks as well as establishing weights before a critical crane lift. Calculating shipping by weight (think of these as big postal scales) or portioning product when done by weight are other uses.  Unit comes in protective ‘tuff stuff’ type carrying case with foam fitted cradle. Lid snaps and carrying handle are integrated into the case.
