One-way valves are positive pressure and open on demand. Valves include splash covers made of barrier material to help prevent liquid intrusion. Valves are located on left back of head and right lower back. Each suit has a unique serial number and is fully tested at time of manufacture including positive air pressure integrity testing per ASTM F1052. Pass-thrus are optional and can be installed upon request when ordering. Some suits are available with optional pass-thrus to accommodate the following SCBA manufacturers: Scott, Interspiro, MSA, Draeger, Survivair®. Recommended Duration of Use Tychem® Level A and Tychem® Level B encapsulating suits may be used for 5 years from date of manufacture as long as all of the following conditions are met: The suit has been stored properly (see section on Storage Conditions) The suit has not been damaged, altered, or contaminated The suit passes a full visual inspection (as outlined above) For Level A suits, the suit must also pass the ASTM F1052 inflation test. After 5 years, if all of the above conditions are met, it is at the sole discretion of the end-user whether to continue using the suit or to retire the suit. It is suggested that garments be labeled and retired to “Training Use Only” after 5 years. DuPont Tychem Level A and Level B encapsulating suits may contain materials such as gloves and closures for which there is no specific storage life data available.
