The main difference is PolySatin provides a semi-gloss finish rather than high-gloss. PolySatin is a 2-Part, Water-Based, Sublimation Coating for Ceramic Mugs, Tile, Stone and Wood.  This 32-ounce bottle will coat approximately 480 coffee mugs or 130 square feet PolySatin is a "glass-like" coating that can be applied with common household tools, with easy water clean-up, and without toxic fumes. PolySatin is formulated to "match" the satin finish of a typical coffee mug and provides a hard, scratch-resistant, semi-gloss finish over coffee mugs, ceramic tile, stone and wood. Directions: Step 1: Add 1 ml of catalyst per ounce of Poly. Stir thoroughly. If you see brush strokes, add 1/2 tsp. water per ounce of Poly. Mixture has an 18-hour pot-life. Pour remaining mixture back into bottle to be re-catalyzed during future use. Step 2: Clean surface with water and/or rubbing alcohol (rinse with water). Step 3: Apply very thin coat of PolySatin mixture with brush or gravity-feed sprayer. Mixture can be thinned with 10% water for use with brush or sprayer. Set air compressor for gravity-feed sprayer between 25 and 35 PSI. Clean sprayer and brush with water (no soaps or solvents). WARNING: Wear face mask & eye protection if using a sprayer Step 4: Once dry (approx. 1 hour), cure substrate in oven or directly on the press for 12 minutes at 380F. If curing on the press, use thin silicone baking sheet (i.e. Wilton Easy Flex Silicone) between substrate and heat element to protect coating from de-glossing. Step 5: Dwell times will vary by substrate and method. Whenever possible, press substrates face-down over foam (Vapor) or felt (Nomex) pad to get full contact with paper. Here are a few examples: Press 4" ceramic tiles face down over foam/felt pad at 400F for 9 minutes. Press wood face-up with silicone pad over paper for 3 minutes at 375F with medium pressure. UV Protection: We recommend applying a topcoat of UV protection like Rust-Oleum Crystal Clear Enamel Spray Paint (available at Home Depot and Lowes for $3.76) to ensure long-term color protection. Coated substrates have no expiration date. In other words, you can coat a mug today and wait 'til next year to sublimate the mug.
