This is a new Ealing (brand) glan-prism, LASER polarizer made of calcite, with a huge, 15mm window; and a new price of $1,175.00 + shipping. Ealing is a diamond-trophy and top-shelf brand!! The model number is 43-6766-000 This has high surface-flatness and damage-threshold (perfect for lasers). Unlike cheap polarizers, it has a very high extinction ratio and spectral-range transmittance. There's a huge number of uses for this, and is absolutely an an item you'd want in your lab, because....If you need it in an emergency to improve an image or illumination quality; there's no substitute for it. The most common uses are cleaning-up an optical signal, illumination source, a beam for measurement or input into an optical-processor. In molecular biology, these prisms are used for hundreds of applications, including with the green-fluorescent-protein to improve the accuracy of imaging for a breast cancer biopsy and pneumonia test. It also creates deep and saturated colors for excellent pictures without glare when put in front of your camera lens for social-pictures!
