Eico 667 Tube Tester Dynamic Conductance Tube And Transistor Tester. The Eico 667 is a step up from a basic emission type tube tester and has a very good reputation for a reasonably priced practical tube tester. The steel case is in good condition, although there is some rust (visible in the photos) and other scratches and paint damage which can be seen in the photos which show all sides of the unit. Being a steel cabinet it does an excellent job of protecting the tester. The handle is undamaged. The cover latch doesn't work, the latch spring is good, the problem is that that the cover pin isn't quite aligned with the latch hole. The power cord is in good condition and the rubber insulation is still soft and flexible. I tested the 667 with a 6L6 and 12AX7 that have been characterized by TCTubes (a local tube testing business). The results were close to what was expected. The meter zero's correctly and the meter needle moves smoothly without binding. The tester is in as found condition. It has not been refurbished or calibrated. The knobs that roll the tube test data move stiffly. The paper roll does move to each end of the roll. I did not attempt to fix the stiffness problem. Note: while the 667 tester has a very good reputation as a tube tester, EICO also has a reputation for having inaccurate tester settings on the paper roll in the unit. This is true for the settings I used for 12AX7 testing (probably one of the most often tested tubes). I have printed out a copy of the last tube test data released by EICO in 1977 from the BAMA website which has corrections to the original paper roll and is probably as easy to use as rolling through the paper roll. I also printed out a copy of the 667 instruction manual from the same website. Purchase with confidence, the tester may be returned within 30 days for a full refund (including all shipping costs) if you are not completely satisfied. Please make the decision to return the unit before starting any refurbishing or modification fo the tester. I ship using Fedex or UPS.
