Electra Model 1B, Serial Number 3094, Thermo Electron (Eberline) / Bicron, 625 Both Road, Becham, Bershire, England radiation survey, rate meter, integrate meter radiation survey instrument. Operates on 3 C batteries, 90 hours at 4 hrs per day, low battery (3.4 volts) indication on display, 8 hrs operation left after low battery display. Operates -20 to +50 degrees C at 95 RH. Length 10 inches, width 4.4 inches, height 2.8 inches, height including handle 5.3 inches. Weight 2.8 lbs. Instrument can display mean count rate (with adjustable time constant), or instanteous count rate as well as integrated total count for pre-set count time. Internal speaker and headphone jack with adjustable headphone volume. Audio can be turned on-off. Can display dual alpha and beta counts (when used with dual alpha-beta probe), with audio click-tone different for alpha and beta input counts. Instrument non-use, auto-off can be pre-set. Will support GM or scintillation detectors (scintillation detectors to 60 meg-ohm, up to 1400 volts), with fully adjustable high voltage to 1400 volts in 5 volt steps. Instrument has self-test mode that checks instrument processor. Auto-count, auto-ranging count modes of: cps, cpm, Bq, dpm, Sv, R, G, Sv/hr, R/hr, G/hr with auto ranging prefixes of: n, u, m, k. Instrument will store background count (count time set by user) and the stored background can be subtracted from subsequent count for net count. Instrument has bottom mounted probe-detector holder clip, see photographs. Count time, elapsed time, for either rate or integrate is stored and displayed. High contrast LCD display, with backlight (which can be turned on-off). Very, very fast responding LCD, 3-decade bargraph for display of quick changing count or dose rates for rapid changing radiation level surveys. Front panel MHV connector. Upper and lower level mv discriminators, adjustable for GM, scintillation and for dual alpha-beta detectors-probes. Supervisor (lock) mode can be established so user cannot change parameter, or operate in non-supervisor mode, user can change all parameters. Instrument has adjustable dead time (DT) to accommodate various GM and scintillation probes, DT adjustable 0 – 250 usec in 1 usec steps. All count rates are corrected for dead time. Settable integrate count mode times available: 1 – 5000 seconds. Over range adjustable alarm setpoint, alarm 1.5 KHz tone. Separate alarms can be set for alpha and beta when dual alpha-beta probe is used. Alarm can be muted. Alarms can be set to auto turn off when count rates or dose rates fall below alarm set points. Instrument response time (time constant) can be set manually 1- 25 seconds or operated in auto-mode. In auto response time (TC) mode response is changed-updated in less than 2 seconds for any change in counts or background, etc. of >3 sigma. Instrument set parameters are backed up when the 3 C batteries are changed out. Instrument in excellent operating condition, all parameters work. Instrument in current pulse NIST Calibration, with current NIST Pulse Certificate Of Calibration included. Detailed 52 page hardcopy 3-ring notebook user manual included, as well as user manual in .pdf format on CD. Note: Not part of this instrument listing, available separately, array of various mating detectors-probes, including: Eberline HP-260, 2 inch GM alpha, beta, gamma detector; Ludlum 44-38 energy-compensated gamma dose detector; Ludlum 44-2, 2 inch sodium iodide (NaI) gamma scintillation detector; Victoreen Model 489-60 alpha scintillation detector; Bicron LEG-1, 1 inch, low energy (<60 kev) x-ray and gamma detector and NE Technology Model DP6BD 100 cm2 beta scintillation probe. See enclosed photographs. Note: These probes are not included with the listed instrument, probe photographs for information purposes only. Contact me for further information regarding probe(s). This instrument is not a surplus pull, but from downsizing-retiring professional radiation safety consulting engineer, health physicist. This is one of the most versatile radiation survey instruments I have used in over 40 years (since 1963) of radiation safety work. Instrument fully guaranteed, return in 14 days if not satisfied.
