Electric Motor. 180 Volt Direct Current. Variable Speed. Nominal Speed = 1,725 RPM. Permanent Magnet. Continuous duty TEFC. Made by Magnetek for Boston Gear. Shaft = 7/8" x 2". Overall length = 18". Major Diameter = 7-3/8". Amps = 7.0. Base-to- shaft centerline =3.5". Weight = 60+ pounds. Condition: Excellent functionally and cosmetically. Has been carefully cleaned and prepped, and painted with Rustoleum's new Hammered Enamel. Current MSRP is in the range of $1,200 plus shipping. Applications: These reliable, continuous-duty motors provide smooth, quiet power with continuously variable speed at the turn of a dial. [ For years, I've used the 3/4 HP versions of these motors on other machines with complete satisfaction. Soon I will install these motors on my LeBlond and Hardinge metal turning lathes. Will use the MINARIK Model MM23001C drive, which converts AC-to-DC, and is available from multiple web sources in the $75 range. Here's a typical web ad for them: "Adjustable SCR speed controller for permanent magnet or shunt wound, brush type motors. Integral potentiometers for setting minimum and maximum speed, acceleration and deceleration, torque and IR compensation. Speed control potentiometer included." Background. This motor was removed from obsolescent medical equuipment such as CT scanners, MRI machines, stress-test treadmills, etc. that were replaced by newest models. As such, it was probably over-engineered. It was operated in a clean environment and well maintained. I do not have a dynomometer on which to test this motor, but I have connected it to a Minarik drive, and verified that it runs smoothly and quietly in both directions, ramps up and ramps down smoothly, etc. Guarantee: If buyer is not satisfied that this item is as good as described and photographed in this ad, he/she is invited to return it undamaged, and I will promptly refund the purchase price plus shipping one way.
